Final Instructions for Tonto Creek Camp


Don’t Forget to return your re-enrollment forms to the office tomorrow, as the deadline is January 21! It appears that we will have a long waitlist for the next year and I would hate for anyone to miss that window.

Your child’s homework tonight is to pack and prepare for Camp.  You will find an additional copy of the packing list on the other side of this note.

Packing:
Please make sure your child has packed everything on the packing list, (plus some extra socks and pants for the cold weather) and that everything is stored in a compact container that is completely sealed.  Don’t forget a flashlight and also have your child label everything with their name.  Students may bring a disposable camera, but no other electronics.  

Medication
If your child needs any medication, please fill out a form in the office and give it to one of the teachers to take with.  We will have basics such as tylenol and other first aid supplies.  We have sent forms home to those students who know they will need to bring medication with them.

Lunch:
Please pack a disposable snack, lunch and drink to be eaten on our way to the camp.  We will stop at a Paleo Site with fossils nearby the camp before our arrival.  (see www.adventurenuts.com/paleo-site.hml for more information) Students are allowed to collect invertebrate fossils only.

Drop Off on Wednesday, January 20:
Please Drop off students between 7:45 and 8:15 am in the back field where carline takes place.   Please do not be late so that we will not make carline difficult for the other parents.

Pick up, Friday, January 22:
Students will be ready for pickup at our usual time at 3:10.   Chaparones may leave upon arrival at school.  (make sure to sign child out and return chaperone paperwork to teachers)  We will arrive most likely between 2 and 2:20)  We will have carline in front, so it is easier for students to load their gear.  We will have siblings join them in the front as well.

Moving into September

It's hard to believe that September has arrived.  We have been busy in multiple creative endeavors in the classroom.  Last week, our students filled their portfolios with poetry and this week they have been collaborating with a partner on creating a script for a short play, skit, or commercial.  The partnerships were carefully chosen to expand every child's circle of friends and build a more cohesive classroom community.  Our students will be performing their plays next week in class.  We are able to record the performances and place them on the homeroom app for those whose parents have a photo release on file.  We also began more formalized Spanish and art lessons this week, which have been received with enthusiasm.  We have talked about how learning a second language is able to change the structure of the brain to make greater connections in language, math, and even music.  Everyone was introduced to our new artist brushes and their purposes for creating various types of line

Wax Museum and Upcoming Events

We are so excited to see the wonderful efforts every child has put forth during these short weeks of research.  Our wax museum is this Friday, from 10-11:15am.  You are welcome to stop by any time to see every child put out their research for all the classrooms and parents to view.  Please make sure your child is not late to school that day so they will have plenty of time to set up their displays. Pictures for Presentation Boards Due  Tomorrow Students are welcome to choose their photos online and print them at home or email them to me in a google doc or word document, where they can printed at school.  All photos should be accompanied by captions that may be typed or handwritten.  Students are welcome to come in as early as 8am to use the computer before school. Memorial Service for Audrey

Sadly, the beloved mother of two of our school's students passed away last week.  Children and parents are welcome to attend the memorial service, tomorrow afternoon.  Please click here for more information.  Donations made on the family's gofundme page will go toward the emotional and physical well-being of the children.
