Field Day is Tomorrow



We just wanted to remind  everyone about our field day tomorrow morning.  All students who are caught up on their work will leave soon after the start of school, please don't be late!  Students are invited to bring spray bottles, water balloons, and super-soakers.  We have plenty of water bottles for the children, leftover from the Luau.

Permission forms
Please remember to return release forms for water day and also the permission for watching the class movie that we will watch on Thursday, Coco.

Pizza on the Last Day of School 
We will be having Pizza on our last day of school and are asking students to donate at least $2 to cover the cost of pizza and carrots with ranch.  

Homes for our Animals
Our frogs have found a summer home, but we still need a home for our birds and snake.  If you are interested in taking them for all or part of the summer, please let us know so we can coordinate everything.

Publishing Party
Also, tomorrow afternoon, our students will present their published books to other students and we will share photos of their presentations in the afternoon.  Everyone worked so hard on their novels and poetry collections and they deserve a little celebration.  Also, if anyone would like to purchase the 62 page, full color MEC cookbook, the cost is just $12.

Moving into September

It's hard to believe that September has arrived.  We have been busy in multiple creative endeavors in the classroom.  Last week, our students filled their portfolios with poetry and this week they have been collaborating with a partner on creating a script for a short play, skit, or commercial.  The partnerships were carefully chosen to expand every child's circle of friends and build a more cohesive classroom community.  Our students will be performing their plays next week in class.  We are able to record the performances and place them on the homeroom app for those whose parents have a photo release on file.  We also began more formalized Spanish and art lessons this week, which have been received with enthusiasm.  We have talked about how learning a second language is able to change the structure of the brain to make greater connections in language, math, and even music.  Everyone was introduced to our new artist brushes and their purposes for creating various types of line

March and April Announcements

We hope everyone has had an enjoyable spring break. We are so excited for our upcoming activities, but also sad to report that one of our families is facing an unimaginable loss.  Please read below for more details. Sad News It is with a heavy heart that I must report that one of our parents, Audrey Baggs, is losing her battle against cancer.  We are explaining this loss to the children and are sharing with you the family's gofundme page to cover final expenses and transitions for the two children that attend our school.  The school cookbook, planned and soon-to-be published by Audrey's oldest daughter, will also be used as a fundraiser to support the children during this time of heartbreaking changes.  We are grateful for the kind words of support during this time and have asked our classroom community to come together in love and unity.  You can find the family gofundme page right  here . Memorial Service for Audrey

Sadly, the beloved mother of two of our school's students passed away last week.  Children and parents are welcome to attend the memorial service, tomorrow afternoon.  Please click here for more information.  Donations made on the family's gofundme page will go toward the emotional and physical well-being of the children.
