Mercado, Tutoring, and Other Activities


We wanted to let parents know that our doors are open for students to finish work or recieve help with our writing projects on Tuesday or Thursday, from 3:20 to 4pm.  Any student choosing to work after school must check in with aftercare during carline and come in with us at 3:20 so that parents will not be charged for that time.  Our doors are open until the end of the year except during conferences (April 26-May4).  We hope that everyone signs up for conferences as soon as possible!

Our students are working hard on formatting their yearbook pages.  Please see these links below for the three photo galleries we already have.  We will be adding more photos as we recieve them.  If anyone would like to add any additional photos from our school activities, please  share or add an album to our google drive on our MECroom102docs.gmail.com account.  Your child already knows the password.

Yearbook photo galleries links have been sent to all our parent's email accounts on file.  If you did not recieve the link, please let us know your current email address!

Also, Mercado is literally around the cornder next week, Friday, April 28.  Your child will be returning their Mercado forms soon.  We have stressed with them the importance of staying within their parents' budgets. Also, please stay tuned for information on the end-of-year activities planned by our 6th graders.  We will have meetings soon about our 6th grade overnight trip. Remember that our 6th grade graduation ceremony is May 19th and our end-of-year trip is May 26th.

Moving into September

It's hard to believe that September has arrived.  We have been busy in multiple creative endeavors in the classroom.  Last week, our students filled their portfolios with poetry and this week they have been collaborating with a partner on creating a script for a short play, skit, or commercial.  The partnerships were carefully chosen to expand every child's circle of friends and build a more cohesive classroom community.  Our students will be performing their plays next week in class.  We are able to record the performances and place them on the homeroom app for those whose parents have a photo release on file.  We also began more formalized Spanish and art lessons this week, which have been received with enthusiasm.  We have talked about how learning a second language is able to change the structure of the brain to make greater connections in language, math, and even music.  Everyone was introduced to our new artist brushes and their purposes for creating various types of line

Memorial Service for Audrey

Sadly, the beloved mother of two of our school's students passed away last week.  Children and parents are welcome to attend the memorial service, tomorrow afternoon.  Please click here for more information.  Donations made on the family's gofundme page will go toward the emotional and physical well-being of the children.

Wax Museum and Upcoming Events

We are so excited to see the wonderful efforts every child has put forth during these short weeks of research.  Our wax museum is this Friday, from 10-11:15am.  You are welcome to stop by any time to see every child put out their research for all the classrooms and parents to view.  Please make sure your child is not late to school that day so they will have plenty of time to set up their displays. Pictures for Presentation Boards Due  Tomorrow Students are welcome to choose their photos online and print them at home or email them to me in a google doc or word document, where they can printed at school.  All photos should be accompanied by captions that may be typed or handwritten.  Students are welcome to come in as early as 8am to use the computer before school.
