Class Trip Meeting

Thanks to all who attended.  Here is the information in case you missed it.

We are so excited about our overnight trips that are planned for this
school year.  We hope that everyone can come to our informational
meeting to learn more about these activities. The dates will be kept
the same as noted in the information passed out at the start of the
year:


Science Camp:  January 25-27, At Tonto Creek Camp, in Northern Arizona


Camp Sky Y:  April 10-12, Near Payson


6th Grade Trip:  May 15-16.  Zion National Park. We would love some
parent input at the meeting as we are considering adding a day.  We have tentatively determined to have it from the 15th to the 17th of May.


The cost for the Science Camp and Camp Sky Y will be $200, which is
covered by a tax credit donation; we will explain how you get this
money back on your taxes at the meeting.  It is possible to break up
payments in increments over 4 months, but still get the money back on
taxes if all donations are made before April 10.  The cost of the 6th
grade trip is usually covered by fundraising.


If you would like to be a chaperone for the trip, you must have a
current fingerprint background check that has been fully processed by
the date of each trip.

We hope to see everyone at the meeting.  Please sign and return the
bottom of the form that will be going home with your child.

Moving into September

It's hard to believe that September has arrived.  We have been busy in multiple creative endeavors in the classroom.  Last week, our students filled their portfolios with poetry and this week they have been collaborating with a partner on creating a script for a short play, skit, or commercial.  The partnerships were carefully chosen to expand every child's circle of friends and build a more cohesive classroom community.  Our students will be performing their plays next week in class.  We are able to record the performances and place them on the homeroom app for those whose parents have a photo release on file.  We also began more formalized Spanish and art lessons this week, which have been received with enthusiasm.  We have talked about how learning a second language is able to change the structure of the brain to make greater connections in language, math, and even music.  Everyone was introduced to our new artist brushes and their purposes for creating various types of line

Memorial Service for Audrey

Sadly, the beloved mother of two of our school's students passed away last week.  Children and parents are welcome to attend the memorial service, tomorrow afternoon.  Please click here for more information.  Donations made on the family's gofundme page will go toward the emotional and physical well-being of the children.

Wax Museum and Upcoming Events

We are so excited to see the wonderful efforts every child has put forth during these short weeks of research.  Our wax museum is this Friday, from 10-11:15am.  You are welcome to stop by any time to see every child put out their research for all the classrooms and parents to view.  Please make sure your child is not late to school that day so they will have plenty of time to set up their displays. Pictures for Presentation Boards Due  Tomorrow Students are welcome to choose their photos online and print them at home or email them to me in a google doc or word document, where they can printed at school.  All photos should be accompanied by captions that may be typed or handwritten.  Students are welcome to come in as early as 8am to use the computer before school.
