Camp Surf Meeting and Other February Activities

We hope to see everyone at our Camp Surf Meeting this Thursday, from 5:30-6 pm.  We are so close to meeting our fundraising goal for the chartered buses and now is the time to plan the next steps ahead.  Most everyone has returned their childcare forms that were sent home last week.  We hope to get a final total of participants and chaperones this week.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, but have questions or would like to chaperone, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure you have the necessary paperwork.  Also, please remember that we need a total of $300 in payments or tax credit donations submitted by April 15th in order to cover the cost of the camp itself.  We are open to hosting more fundraisers if needed and will discuss further options at the meeting.

Superstition Mountain Museum
We sent home permission slips for our trip to the Lost Dutchman Museum, on February 15th, the day after Arizona Statehood Day.  We are in need of three drivers to accompany us to the museum.  If you are able to drive or chaperone, please let us know by filling out the bottom portion of the field trip permission form.  We are looking forward to learning more about Arizona's rich history.

Snack
Please make sure to check with your child about which day they are bringing snack for the class.  We have had a lot of students neglect their turns, resulting in less snack for everyone.  The students work so hard creating the snack calendar and offering suggestions for snack, which is an important executive function skill.  We have encouraged students to record their snack day in their planner after they get the snack calendar for the month.  Please note that the snacks requested are merely suggestions to avoid duplication.  Students are welcome to bring other healthy foods for snack, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, which are enjoyed by our children with allergies.  If your child forgets to bring snack on their day, please bring it on a later day so that we have something to use in the future when snack is forgotten.  Thank you for supporting the process of planning, preparing, and providing snack in our classroom, which is a valuable practical life skill in the Montessori environment.

Book Orders and Re-enrollment Paperwork
Please note that re-enrollment papers are due today and book orders are due in the office on Monday.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call or ask our friendly office staff in person.

As we move into February, we hope everyone stays healthy and continues their diligent work habits.  We find ourselves ever amazed at how much each student has grown both socially and intellectually since the start of the year.  Our older students have grown comfortable in their leadership roles and continue to impress businesses as they solicit donations for their own fundraising projects. It is a pleasure to be Montessori guides for such a resourceful group and we look forward to our meeting this Thursday!
